Canada since 1867...

Canada was recognized as a country in 1867, and so too was its political system.

Britain created the British North America Act, the origins of the Canadian constitution. Only in 1926 however, under the terms of the Balfour Declaration, was Canada granted autonomy, and this was only made legal under the Statute of Westminster in 1931.

Since, this constitution had remained unchanged until it was finally amended in 1982.
